Position Summary
ELECTRICAL ENGINEER II Sky Research is seeking an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer II to work with our SkySAR synthetic aperture radar (SAR) development team. The candidate will be responsible for design and construction of subsystems for Sky Research’s airborne radar systems. Sky Research’s founders have provided over 30 years aviation and technical expertise in environmental characterization and research project management to federal and commercial clients both domestic and international. Sky Research is focused on environmental remediation including the assessment and detection of unexploded ordnance (UXO) at active and formerly used military sites. Offices are located in; Ashland, OR, Centennial, CO, Hanover, NH, and Boston, MA, Vancouver, BC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate will be involved in design, construction, and testing of electronic subsystems, including:

• Control and interface hardware for airborne radar and other sensors,
• Analog and digital circuit design,
• Microcontroller and FPGA circuit design,
• Interface circuits including embedded microcontrollers,
• Construction of prototype hardware,
• Cable and chassis design and construction,
• PCB design and layout,
• System documentation,
• Project planning, documentation, and reporting.

Education and Experience Requirements

• BS (minimum) or MS (preferred) in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 5-10 years experience with hardware and software design and construction.
• Microcontroller and FPGA design experience.
• High speed circuit design experience.
• Well developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Preparation of high quality technical specifications, manuals, and project reports.
• Ability to solve problems and troubleshoot issues as they arise
• Exceptional technical writing and editing skills

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements

Preferred, however, not required

• Radar system design and testing.
• Electronics fabrication, including chassis and cable construction.
• RF design and testing experience is an asset.
• Experience with C++, Java, and MATLAB.
• US citizenship. Other Details
